A transportation services company specializing in logistics and more specifically third-party logistics. They provide services principally throughout the United States and to a lesser extent in Canada and between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico and other countries around the world. The company is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida and has been in business since 1988.
Company had some SharePoint portals supporting their day to day business processes. Due to a lack of documentation, supporting and maintaining these portals proved to be difficult for the company. They approached GIobal Infonet (GI) to help provide solutions for their business needs.
GI studied the current SharePoint implementation and provided a consolidated architectural documentation for the company’s portals on SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2003 and also provided code documentation for the CFO Portal. This solution helped the client’s IT staff to support and work independently on further enhancements of these portals. GI also provided a detailed recommendation and documentation on Upgrade to SharePoint 2013. This included the process to be followed for upgrade that will have minimal impact on the current work process. The solution recommendation also highlighted the benefits that the client will reap from the upgrade.
With the right technical documentations in place, it helped client to reduce application support cost. The documentation gave clear guidance to the IT support staff in understanding and maintaining the applications.
It became easy to train and also build new features and process flows to these portals. The code level documentations helped reduce the time to implement enhancements.
The technical documentations helped the client to quickly resolve the existing open issues on the portals and also build essential enhancements in a very short period of time. This gave greater user acceptance to the SharePoint applications, thus helping to boost overall operational efficiency.
